I've been writing about cannabinoids and medicinal cannabis for decades. I wonder why you chose to interview someone from NIDA, who is automatically biased against cannabis vs a researcher who has actually studied and reported on its effects. Cannabis is an incredibly complex plant compound that interacts with the endocannabinoids on multiple levels, which is why sources are critical when we try to break down the science and potential benefits, not to mention side effects (which incidentally, most researchers will explain are quite mild compared to pharmaceutical agents prescribed for the same conditions). Moreover, if you take a look at the research across multiple conditions, you will find that by and large, patients who use cannabis for medical conditions do so in a manner much different than someone who uses it recreationally, and more prone to developing tolerance. It's a nice article that somehow misses the mark slightly. Several commenters referenced CBN. Most tend to think of CBD and THC when discussing medicinal cannabis but there are more than 60 compounds believed to convey some sort of action and we've only scratched the surface. Cheers.
